Open Letter to the Palestinians

27 Mar

Dear Palestinians,

please cut it out? And I don’t mean the beating heart of another zionist. I understand your anger, I agree you are right to be angry, and the extent that I am capable of, even share it. What the Israeli government – my government – has been doing to you since the foundation of the state, is a disgrace and an atrocity, from the razing of houses to the shooting of children.

But for fuck’s sake. You will never free Palestine or end the occupation by stabbing, car-ramming, shooting, bombing, or otherwise attacking Israelis. Israel will always be stronger; you will never have our military power. And I understand that beyond logical motivations, there is the urge to continue a historical resistance, though futile, just to demonstrate your defiance and hatred of the situation. That, too, I understand. Only dead fish swim with the current.

But for fuck’s sake. You are helping the zionist agenda. Yes, you are helping the Israeli government oppress, rob, and kill you. Every time you attack an Israeli, my government says, “Look world, this is why we have to oppress them! This is why we have to take and control their land! This is why we bulldoze their homes! This is why we have to shoot them at the slightest suspicion of a butter knife in their pocket! Because they keep attacking us!”
You are doing my government a great favour by perpetually attacking us. You are justifying being treated like animals by behaving like animals. You think a prison is going to release a convict if and because he beats up the guards every time he’s let out into the cafeteria? No. This prolongs his sentence.

And Allah’s will? Seriously? Allah, the Gracious, wants you to walk into your death, break your family’s hearts, just so the zionists have an excuse to make your family homeless and abuse your people some more? Your struggle isn’t the only thing historical here. Your people, the Palestinians, being abused more every time one of you attacks an Israeli, is also a historical event that repeats itself without failure.

Every attack from you against us, makes your situation worse. I’m not telling you to love us. You’re right to hate us (well, not me, I’m nice, I give great head). I hate the government and its executioners, too. Hate us till the cows come home. We have not given you a reason not to. But for fuck’s sake, please internalize that your “armed resistance” is only making your situation worse. Yeah, we mourn our losses… But every single time, you get a disproportionately worse response, don’t you?

For fuck’s sake, cut it out. It’s stupid, pointless, and only moves you farther away from your goals. We will never lose to you, and my government will never leave you alone if you keep giving it excuses to abuse you. Stop this shit. I want both our people to live in peace, even if we can’t stand each other’s smell. But my government wants you to continue attacking us, because you are helping it abuse you.

Don’t do the zionists that favor.

Sincerely,
an Israeli

Open Letter to Chuck Norris

16 Mar

Dear Chuck Norris,

With all respect, as an Israeli who has to live in Netanyahu’s idea of Isreal, I can tell you that you have seen a speech and bought into him like some people see a yoghurt TV commercial and buy the goop the next day.

Yes, Netanyahu is an amazing public speaker. I used to believe in him. Then I stepped outside my happy, Hasbara-brainwashed Zionist cocoon. And no, he is not concerned with all of the people. Only those with money, and preferably only white Jews with money.

You do not live here. You do not see the struggle of the working class on a minimum wage as low as $4 while the cost of living corresponds to that in the usa. We dumpster-dive for return bottles because all the money goes into settlement constructions which violate international treaties Israel has SIGNED.
You do not see the daily institutional racism against Arabs, blacks, but also Middle Eastern Jews.
You do not see how Netanyahu exploits us to spoil his family (this is nepotism!), and how he is a war and fear mongerer to make sure we’re preoccupied with Iran and Syria rather than address the blatant social injustice he so happily ignores. Poverty will kill us before Iran does!
He has also done little for the security of Israel, and nothing another PM wouldn’t do – though perhaps not in the same way. He has wasted the lives of soldiers and of Arabs through ground operations that were poorly planned, for a mere show of force. The previous war could have been avoided had he not done all he could to escalate the situation in the West Bank in response to which Hamas, whom I am by no means defending, started firing missiles. When you respond to 3 indeed horrific murders by bulldozing everybody ELSE’S houses, arresting and beating hundreds, and collectively punishing everyone within a 5 kilometer radius of the murder suspects, you are not solving problems – you are creating them. Israel has military control over the West Bank, yet no political or social involvement, and you think that can work? HA!

As a descendant of someone who was involved in the foundation of the state, and who has a lot more insight than you, I can only say that while I love my country, its alleged innocence in the conflict is a blatant lie. We would be a lot safer had our government not had/still having this perpetual tradition of treating the Palestinians like animals. This country was not founded on deserted land. We have driven people out, empoverished them, bullied them, killed them. And now we’re bitching that they’re pissed. Good one! We have a chance, every single day, to break this cycle and try what has not been tried before: humanity. I am not naieve, I am no bleeding heart hippie, but look at our history and tell me how the current and past way of handling things has helped anyone? Yeah. Oh, so we’re still standing. But at what cost.

So no, this man is not worthy to lead us anywhere other than our self-destruction. He keeps pouring oil on the blaze with the Arab world, while we wither in poverty because he doesn’t give two shits about us.
That, Mr. Norris, is the reality as viewed by someone done with Hasbarah and sugarcoating, born and living in Israel. Screw Netanyahu’s speeches. Try living here. With your eyes and your mind wide open. And without your fancy money, but on the kind of job you get here when you don’t put your real name on the CV. First you do that for a couple of years, then you get to tell us whom to vote for, because it will be YOUR ass joining me in diving for refundable bottles. From your fancy estate somewhere out there, those big words are way too easy, and based on way too little, Mr. Norris.

Israel’s 2014 in Review

30 Dec

The year 2014 in Israel: same old, same old.

We’ve had one “major” (as in, involving more than one small town beyond the Green Line) “war” (as in, avenging a bitch slap with a chainsaw massacre), some 70 Israelis and 3000 Palestinians dead, many more homeless. A rather impressive 4000 rockets were fired into Israel. Ashkelon Beach kinda lost its attraction to me by an explosive 90%. Bada-BOOM-ah!

Three Jewish boys were killed by about as many Palestinian terrorists. As a results, hundreds of Palestinians, related or not, got harassed and abused by police, military, and other entities, and quite a few ended up homeless. None of them the culprit, but who cares.
In revenge, 6 Jews murdered a Palestinian child by burning him alive. They were arrested and investigated by the book, respectfully, with all the necessary insanity and other pleas to help them stay out of jail. No neighbors had their houses bulldozed or their asses beaten by police.
So the exchange rate in Israel has remained rather stable: 1 Jewish life is worth at least 50 Arab lives. I’m not just counting the lives literally lost in revenge for one another, but also those stripped of humanity, dignity, and not least of all, basic civil and human rights.
So yeah, one Jew buys you 50 Palestinians or more. I should get me a couple Jews. Need some house staff. 1 for the litter boxes, 1 for walking the dogs, 1 for general cleaning, 1 for the kitchen. Wait, I think one Jewish kidney will buy me that much.

What else… Ah yes, some 70 Israelis lost their lives. Most of them soldiers. Because as tragic as that is – and it sincerely strikes me with grief – Israelis don’t die in rocket barrages. They start dropping like flies once they enter Gaza to deliver payback for rockets most of which only cause property damage. For every Israeli killed by a rocket, 20 died in Gaza. Soldiers are not scarecrows. They are just as human and just as alive, and craving to stay so, as civilians. So why sacrifice even one soldier to protect one civilian, let alone 20 per capita? I’m not saying the barrages should be tolerated… But sending those kids in there on foot or in ground vehicles, uh…
Also, there are ways to stop the barrages that Israel hasn’t tried yet. After all, our “war” with the Palestinians is not a religious one. On neither side. The fact that they invoke Allah in their warfare, doesn’t change that fact. All fighters, terrorists, and soldiers, who believe in any God, turn to him in times of warfare and confrontations with death. Some may try to make this war religious, but in essence it is not. So what Israel might try, and hasn’t yet, is to allow the Gaza Strip to thrive to a degree the people can live with dignity and humanity. Hamas may abuse some funds, but that is only part of why Gazans are poor and angry. Now don’t give me “but we ship them food and materials”. Yeah, prisoners also get two or three meals a day, and electricity, yay them!
So, what is my suggestion? Let them construct, let them build an industry and an economy, and after thorough background checks, grant free passage to individuals and groups. Anyone who abuses this, can still be taken out. Also, enough with the collective punishments and excessive force. Treat Palestinians as equal human beings, is my suggestion. Their quarrel with us is about how we treat them. You can’t keep kicking a dog and then complain that it’s dangling off your throat. We have been kicking this dog for way too long. To all Palestinians reading this: I am not saying you are dogs. I am just using the first allegory that comes to my dog-loving mind.

The Jewish Nation State bill. Ah, yes. After firing the two remaining sane major MKs, Lapid and Livni, Bibi goes and says: “Yall, let’s declare those Gentiles second class citizens and make this a Fourth Reich!”
Yeah, no, that isn’t gonna pour oil on the Palestinians’ blaze, nah, and it’s also totally not gonna alienate the Israeli Arabs, including Christians, Druze, and seculars. Nah, I see no problem with that.

I predict that in 5 years’ time, the Gaza Strip and the Best Wank won’t be the only Arab ghettos. I don’t believe there will be gas chambers, but I do totally count on Israel to cut down resources.

Yeah, 2014 has been a great year for Israel, full of no changes for the better, the usual death toll for both sides, and more chikanery to keep the Arabs pissed. If you are a conservative Zionist and would like things to stay this way, vote Bibi or Lieberman or Bennet NOW!

Open Letter to Four Paws

30 Sep

Dear Four Paws,

I hear you have
taken upon yourselves another admirable and rather complicated project: to save the animals of Gaza zoo. Great, except be careful with your words because they may give readers the wrong idea of who the real problem is in this particular matter.

I am two things, one is an animal lover who is supportive of most animal welfare causes. The other, is a lover and critic of Israel who will not hesitate to dunk Israel’s nose in its own shit in hopes to help it improve. Hence, this blog has seen many an extremely harsh criticism of Israel.

But this time, I can’t help but cringe. Yes, Israel’s last war on/with Gaza was brutal, and yes, I feel like Israel went overboard more than once. Yes, I think Israel is handling Gaza all wrong anyway, and should try a more humane approach. Like, stop adding to their reasons to hate us and flock to Hamas.

This is not Israel’s doing. Israel did not decide to build a tiny cage. Israel did not invade to empty trash bags in there. Israel did not make these animals obese. Israel did not set their cubs up to die from horrific “living” conditions. This is Gaza zoo’s choice to suck.

I found it very concerning to read Four Paws partially explain the situation of the animals at Gaza Zoo as the result of Israeli aggression/bombing without mentioning the inexcusable incompetence of zoo staff, Hamas’ refusal to share their wealth with the zoo, or simply, basic respect towards animals. Let’s see. So yes, the last war has probably scarred the animals and traumatized them deeply. But while it may be accurate that the zoo has been “severely damaged by airstrikes”, this repeated statement in the absence of the condemnation of other causes for the zoo’s plight, presents two problems:

1. We all know that the world will twist this into another reason to hate and attack Israel, because “severely damaged by airstrikes” doesn’t really say anything about the reason for those airstrikes. It just serves as a reminder that Israel bombed Gaza. Who cares about the missiles we had thrown at us first.
2. Israel needn’t bomb Gaza for the zoo to suffer, but the article says nothing about the true plight of those animals to whom it would have been an act of mercy had Israel bombed them all right dead. The enclosures are shocking; people get to litter right through the bars. The enclosures are tiny and filthy and equipped with unsafe items. Staff is utterly incompetent. People will try to blame Israel for this, too, but the “government” of the Gaza Strip, Hamas, is known to use any and all foreign money and financial aid for two goals only: terror (“resistance”, ie. dropping missiles on civilians and putting pre-teen children through terrorist boot camp), and luxury. Yes, you read that right. Gaza has money. It just doesn’t go to its people, or the animals. Hamas leaders enjoy big houses, private gyms and jets, and other luxuries even average Israelis could only dream of if only they knew what these things looked like. You can absolutely not blame Israel for the horrific condition Gaza Zoo has always been in. There are resources, but Khaled Mashaal prefers to spend them on a nice suit for when he steps onto his private jet.

About 4 years ago, I saw an article about the lions in Gaza zoo rotting away, lying morbidly obese in what is barely the size of a dog kennel, between torn-up litter of ill-behaved, disrespectful (by choice, not because of Israel) visitors. Even earlier, a happy Palestinian TV show boasted the mascot, an idiot in a bee suit, abusing lions and house cats at that zoo. The message appears to be to show children what Israel is doing to Palestinians, but not only is the reverse transmitted by a loved mascot abusing animals and enjoying it – and hence teaching the kids it’s okay – but it should also be considered child abuse to use childrens’ television to indoctrinate kids to hate and fear whoever it may be. Whatever the beef between Israel and Palestine may be, you simply do not brainwash kids this way.

Then there was the thing with the two lion cubs named after weapons of mass destruction, declaring them “martyrs” against Israel. Seriously, even cubs are abused as a political… shit… can’t even find the word.
These two cubs died soon after birth. Declaring them martyrs in the struggle against Israel – while they had no idea of or concern with Gaza’s beef with Israel and were forced into the role more passionately than they were cared for when alive – kind of makes it sound like Israel is to blame.
No. We are not. You know those volunteer projects advertized on agency sites like GoEco and other agencies who don’t care for ethics? The ones where any untrained, inexperienced suburb kid can go for prime dollar, and bottle-feed and hand-rear lion cubs so they’ll be nice and tame and easier to shoot by trophy hunters a few years later? Yes, those “sanctuaries” (“breeding farms” more like), run on the free, pardon me, paying labour of foreign (teen) volunteers with no training whatsoever. Yet, their lions tend to grow up just fine, all shiny-furred and toned so that sick minds such as Kendall Jones & Co. can pose next to a real beauty (except the gun shot wound).
In other words, even those untrained easily amused kids who barely know how to change their cat’s litter box, manage to keep alive lion cubs that were ripped from their mothers at birth – quite a feat if you ask me. But the Gaza zoo staff, people paid to keep those animals alive and healthy (oh.. okay, forget about it then), are too stupid to take care of 2 kittens? Really? No, you can not and you will not, blame that on Israel. You can and you will blame that on those staff members and vets choosing incompetence over basic animal nursing skills. Competence is a choice. One that needn’t cost money. One that needn’t rely on Israel not to bomb or occupy them. All you could do, is ask the internet for help: how to rear a lion cub, or any carnivorous baby mammal. Hell, ask those freaking lion farms who manage to raise “orphaned” lions to adulthood using amateurs! Or simply be what zoo staff are normally expected to be – competent upon being hired.
Choice incompetence killed those cubs and martyrdom has no place in the equation. Blaming Israel has no place in the equation.

Now the admirable effort is made to rescue animals from Gaza zoo and take them to Jordan, and provide for other animals on site, meaning, to keep them in Gaza and expose them to more harm. Yes, some of that harm may be an occasional Israeli bombing, but you know what? I’d personally fly the jet that puts those animals out of their misery, because the real harm they’re exposed to, is their daily “lives” made miserable not by Israel, but by Gazans failing to reconcile the well-being of animals not being a priority (sort of understandably), with having non-essential animals in the first place (which is less understandable). Any harm Israel can do by bombing the zoo, is but a small blip on the radar. As I have just elaborated, Gaza zoo animals don’t need Israel’s “help” to live, wither, and die miserably.

Hence I urge you, Four Paws, to
a) edit their articles and posts on the matter into a less Israel-blaming tone, and
b) add some facts about how Gaza zoo has a history of chosing to fail to take basic care of their animals.

What with the size and influence of your organization, you have tremendous responsibility. You have the potential to influence public opinion. I am not asking you to glorify Israel and I am not one of those idiots calling you antisemitic for mentioning Israel’s bombardment of Gaza and the zoo. However, whenever your article sought to explain the conditions at Gaza zoo, the choice reason was “Israel’s bombardment”. How do Israeli bombs every couple of years keep Gaza zoo staff from worming their animals or expanding – or at least not littering – their enclosures and taking basic care of them? Come on. Your repeated mentioning of Israeli bombings, are like taking a battered and mangy dog with broken bones, lost eyes, worms and parvo, and 2 broken ribs from blunt force trauma, and omitting the mange and the parvo and the lost eyes and blaming the dog’s entire condition on the one douchebag who kicked the dog to break its ribs.
It may be obvious to you that Gaza zoo has problems way beyond Israel’s bombs, but your article doesn’t make this obvious to the reader who all too often loves to hate Israel for being the Goliath against poor little Palestinian David, AND thoughtlessly ask for any animal abuser’s head to roll before getting their facts straight. You know how it works. Everybody knows how it works. Don’t enable it. Don’t facilitate it. Don’t make this about Israel.

Thank you,
a potential donor (Israeli, because we don’t all bomb zoos).

Who by fast decay?

2 Aug

This war has done too much damage already. Not only is every single life lost, one too many. No, it also does the opposite of unite the people on either side. Right and left are entangled in as much hatred as the IDF and Hamas.
Unity is not about being of the same opinion, so neither right nor left gets to accuse the other of divisiveness just because one disagrees with the war and the other does not. Unity is about sticking together in spite of those differences. Sticking together for the greater goal of peace means to find a way that both Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace and dignity. For this to happen we must stop putting the sole blame on any faction, be it the Gazans, “leftists”, or however else you wish to label a group in black and white thinking – disregarding that there is no black and white here. There is no “they started it, so we get to totally fuck their shit up”. Maybe “they started” this specific round, but there have been so many rounds in this fight that it has become irrelevant who the initial initiator is. At this point, rather than who started it, we need to focus on how we can stop it. And here, too, we cannot put the responsibility solely on the shoulders of one party. We can’t rest on the convenience of having attempted half, no, quarter-assed outreach to “the enemy”. We must be more proactive, and by that, I don’t mean “drop more bombs”. Because war creates trauma and trauma creates more war. We can’t expect to crush Gazans, have them bury their loved ones, and sit down and say “Yeah well Israel, you’re right, we’re wrong, we’ll leave you alone now”. It is not reasonable. It is against logic and against human nature to expect such a thing to come out of all this violence.

And finally, feeling compassion with the Gazans and mourning their dead, is not anti-Israeli. Israel prides itself with morality and compassion and anti-racism, so how about at this time of all, we put our money where our mouth is and not label people equally mourning the dead on both sides (yes, that is possible) traitors or antisemites? How about we not demand that our morality and compassion be earned, or applicable exclusively to those treating us nicely? We must internalize that Gazans, too, no matter whether they like or hate us, are humans with these basic needs:
-health
-food/water
-shelter
-safety/reliability of the above
-dignity
-hope
-education
-reasonable availability of the above
-family, love, intimacy (not just sexual)
-trust in the preservation thereof
Israel continues to take this away from them, and why is irrelevant. The outcome is what matters, because the outcome are missiles and dead soldiers who are also the sons of weeping mothers, so the soldiers dying to protect civilians doesn’t make their deaths noble, it makes them senseless because when they’re not wearing those uniforms, they, too, are civilians. And even inside of those uniforms, these soldiers, just like the terrorists and their enablers, are human beings with the needs listed above, equal in intensity as any civilian may experience them.

Once this is internalized rather than deciding that we can just bomb people because their lives are worth less than ours (or vice-versa), peace talks will make sense. As long as either side values retaliation and destruction over acknowledging humanity, there can be no valid, reliable peace. Peace and freedom can only be achieved by mutual granting thereof. And one needs to take the first step and be consistent in it. Not pretend to have “tried” while denying “the enemy” either of the things listed above. This goes for Israel and Hamas equally. Whoever fancies himself the morally superior party, will need to take steps that may hurt the ego, but close the rift. And whoever has the power to do so, also has the obligation.

This is not “leftist” talk or any “box” or “group” or “label” talk. This is mere reason. I am painfully aware though, that many are past that.

No lessons learned.

24 Jul

Some people claim to have learned lessons from the missile attacks on Israel, such as all of this being mere antisemitism and a repetition of the Third Reich. The same people probably also very carefully select their history books and happily buy into one-sided narratives that suit their comfort zone.

Personally, I like to leave my comfort zone and question things that sound too easy, such as “It’s all those Muslims’ fault, Israel is totally innocent”. Rarely can such long-lasting conflicts be blamed on one side making all the mistakes. Scrap that – never. So I left my comfort zone. I got sick. I cried. I raged. Then I calmed down and resumed leaving my comfort zone further and further behind.
Those who know me, know I refuse to view things in black and white, especially things as large as the Middle East conflict. I mean, I used to. But as a meritocrat and passionate intellectual and academic, I cannot breathe when I am not learning and feeding my mind facts.

One such fact-feeding endeavor was when I started feeling weird about calling my land grandfather, Naeim Giladi, a senile traitor. I never met the men. I never listened to the man’s interviews or read his articles. All I knew about him, were statements from my parents about him having hated Israel. That made it simple for me.
But then I remembered my mother hates big dogs – and I love them! Have I ever dismissed my mother’s feelings in favor of my own? I mean, other than when I bought that Akita without asking her first… Wait a second! My mother hand been the victim of a horrific attack by a big dog, and witnessed another big dog kill a child on accident, by the mere force of its leap. While it may be wrong to hate all big dogs now, her hatred is not something that can be dismissed as the manifestation of an evil person’s black heart.

Now, there were two kinds of Israel haters I also wanted to examine more closely: my grandfather, and a big portion of Palestinians. I buy the blanket hatred against Israel as little as I bought Israel’s consistently pointing the finger at others anymore. Because both attitudes are wrong.
I found most answers in my grandfather’s book; a large portion of its content can be researched and confirmed by anyone who wishes to do so.
Now, we can line up a few very simple facts to begin with – facts not exclusively found in Naeim’s book.
1. Israel was not built on deserted land; people have been living there – and not only Jews.
2. Palestine as a nation state may never have existed, but the land had indeed been referred to as Palestine and both local Jews and non-Jewish Arabs called Palestinians.
3. There is no Evil Gene in Muslims or Arabs that makes them born anti-semitic. Political views and religious beliefs are taught. Always. Sometimes by the object of the hatred.

Looking at these facts, anyone with an open mind and average intelligence or above, should feel a question nagging at them: if the land had been inhabited by people previously to the establishment of the state of Israel, where had they gone, and why did they leave? And why do Arabs appear to hate Israel?

The Quran says nothing about Jews needing to die. Many Israel lobbyists actually use the Quran to discredit radical Islamists, saying that the Quran itself approves of Jews. However, the very same lobbyists now lose their argument against Muslims: well obviously, they don’t hate us because their religion tells them to!
In a propaganda video, an Israel lobbyist remarks that Arabs started attacking Jews in 1947. Why not earlier? Why then? Did a new mind control virus that only Arabs are susceptible to, break out in the Middle East? No. There was no Hitler Aids epidemic. A much different disease broke out that year: white supremacy. 1947 was the year that the state of Israel started to be built, by white Jews handed the land by white British to do with as they pleased.
Now, wait a minute! What are the British doing assigning and reassigning land that isn’t really theirs? Oh, wait, he’ve had this before. South Africa for example, where white people invaded the land, grabbed it, and shooed all the native black people into slums. And we also had this in america, where white people invaded the land, grabbed it, butchered the Natives, and had black slaves build them (the whites) something cozy.

In other words, God didn’t give us Israel unless the Brits are his angels. Now, answer me honestly with “Yes” or “No” when I ask you if the native people of a land can be reasonably expected to surrender their homes and leave just because a bunch of foreigners are holding a holy book in one hand and a gun in the other, saying “God wants me to live here, now fuck off or I’ll make you”?
Because, see, it’s not really relevant whether the Palestinian Muslims were kicked out or herded into today’s Gaza Strip and the Best Wank after having fought and lost an armed struggle, or whether they had been helplessly beaten there every step of the way. Unless you are their landlord and they stopped paying the rent, you are never right to see people out of their homes, much less expect them to “get over it”.

This is also why the argument of the Palestinian Muslims having been offered such and such strip of land by Israel, is invalid. You can’t throw me out of my home and into a much crappier place, and then expect me to forgive you by offering me some bumblefuck place in the middle of nowhere. The scorn of being offered a consolation prize by the one who attacked and robbed me for no good reason, should be apparent even to the thickest among you.

See, before the state of Israel was established, Muslims did not hate Jews. Both groups were well respected by the other, and coexisted just fine. Muslims also would not have minded Israel being established on truly vacant land. But you sort of need to understand their feeling of resentment when Jews who aren’t even from around here – European, Russian, american, Soviet – Jews come and build their cities over the forcefully vacated houses of the Muslim inhabitants of that land.

My grandfather came to hate Israel after having loved and nearly died for it. Such a change of heart doesn’t happen over night and is not a decision one takes consciously. It is something that happens when enough is enough. In the beginning, my grandfather had been enthusiastic about the idea of a Jewish state. He helped smuggle Jews out of Iraq so they could start a new life in Israel. He went to death row for this endeavor.
Sadly, he soon found out that not only was that state built at the expense of a large part of the land’s inhabitants, the pogroms he and other Arab Jews fled to Israel from, had also largely been staged or deliberately provoked by Israel’s founders themselves in an effort to populate Israel with Jews as quickly and as massively as possible. And when the Arab Jews arrived, they found that this land was built and run by white people who needed the Arab Jews mostly to replace the cheap labor force that the Muslim Arabs would have been, had they not been paid or forced to leave their homeland because Muslims weren’t quite the right kind of population for a Jewish state. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Naeim Giladi gave Israel the finger and left.

Fast-forward to the 21. century.

Hamas is throwing rockets at, and Best Wankers are slitting throats of, Jewish Israelis. Now, while I know many simpletons haunt the net including this blog, I must ask you not to misread me: I do not defend the attacks on civilians. I consider the Itamar massacre, the missiles upon Israel, the murder of the three Jewish boys, as horrible a violent crime, as any. And I have no patience for violent criminals whatsoever. Be it a punch, a rape, or a massacre, I hate violent criminals.
However 1.
Strangely, mere suspects in the triple murder had had their houses bulldozed by Israel, which brutally arrested hundreds in the search for the killers. Now, when a Jew murders an Arab Muslim, Israel proceeds a lot more gently. Gag orders on identities even after confessions were made, the option to plead insanity, and obviously, no relatives of the suspect/convict having their homes destroyed. Why this difference in procedure? Why handle Muslims more roughly than Jews, for the same kind of crime? 40s america, anyone? Yes, I’ll just say it right here: Israel is treating its so-called citizens like america treated black people back then, with that very same attitude that turns “blacks” into “niggers”. Yes, as long as these Palestinians are under Israel’s thumb, they are its citizens. And Palestinian Authority or not, they are under Israel’s thumb or else Israel couldn’t just barge in as convenient, and arrest people and bulldoze their homes. The PA is a strawman, a joke, a comforter to silence those who say that Israel is robbing the Palestinian Arabs of their sovereignty. Israel still holds most power over the territories, whatever anyone may call them.

However 2.
The claim that Israel left Gaza for peace… If Israel can continue to carry out target assassinations and control what goes in and out of Gaza, and even switch off their electricity, Israel is not “out of Gaza”. It is so far up Gaza’s ass that Gaza is shitting Osem.
Ah, yes, Osem, another interesting point. Israel prides itself in delivering food and electricity to Gaza. Are prisons proud to say that their inmates receive the bare minimum required to survive? Not really, prisons rarely start bragging at any degree below offering continuing education and ways to re-establish oneself after release. Except, other than the terrorists there, Gaza is not just a cesspool of criminals and hence should not serve as a prison – there are normal people there whose only reason to hate Israel is to be caught in the middle of a fight they didn’t ask for.
Now you’ll ask a very valid question: “Why then, do they support Hamas?” Because Hamas still gives them more compassion than Israel does. Hamas may be evil, but when one side makes you poor, keeps you cooped up in slums, and makes sure you live a pointless life, and the other side gives or promises you purpose (even if through death), yet happens to be evil, well..? Consider that the Gazans consist of many generations of living and dying with the same pointlessness, and getting the same undignified treatment from Israel, and the same rhethoric from Hamas. There is no new fresh generation of hope there, only a repetition of not so ancient history.

Also consider that nobody is born suicidal or commits suicide easily. No matter what our beliefs, survival instinct stops most of us from crossing certain lines. Suicide bombings or endangering one’s life by firing missiles or otherwise directly attacking Israel, are not part of Islam, and are contrary to our supreme survival instincts. Please, by all means, DO doubt that these terrorists kill themselves with any more ease than do other broken-hearted people in a last-ditch attempt to either end their own misery, or pave the way to a better future for their loved ones (no matter how wrong they may be to expect that to come out of their deeds). Suicide is always an act of despair. Muslims are no different. Muslims do not lack survival instinct, they do not have a kill-yourself-plus-infidels gene.

And food isn’t all people need to live a life that is too good to be wasted on hatred and terrorism. People need quality water. Reliable power. New clothes, decent health care/services, construction/renovation materials, decent schools and colleges, recreation. Israel mustn’t pride itself in throwing the Gazans a few tons of Osem. Would you praise a junkyard owner for throwing his chained dog low-quality kibble and water, while denying the animal all the other things it needs to live a dignified version of its one and only fleeting life, and beating it whenever it misbehaves as a result? Well, the Gazans are that dog.

Fact: Gazans are born into a futile existence. There are no career paths there, no academic institutions, no airports to leave for a better life. They are born like hamsters in a pet shop, to either be eaten by their cage mates due to overpopulation and stress, or be bought by thoughtless adults as playthings for their children. Even if Hamas were funding education and prosperity for all their citizens, there would be no point to it. There is no getting out of Gaza. So Hamas investing in picking up the place, would merely result in the cage getting a golden paint job.

So how can you be surprised that they tolerate or even support Hamas, knowing full well that Hamas endangers their lives as much as Israel renders them futile? At least, Hamas promises them that their deaths will have purpose, while Israel makes sure that their lives do not.

After you’ve let that sink in – or so I hope – I’m sure you’ll understand the following: today, especially among young people who haven’t lived through enough history yet, a lot of the anti-Israel sentiment among Muslims and pro-Palestinians may have transformed into blanket antisemitism. Many may not know exactly what they are protesting or defending, and many may simply use the plight of the Palestinians as an excuse for racism.
However. The source of the hostility of Palestinians towards Jews, is not religiously or ethnically motivated. No matter what today’s generation may explain their feelings with, the conflict started because people were made homeless and empoverished for the sake of the Jewish state. For the sake of the Jewish state, its previous indigenous inhabitants have been split into two groups according to their religion and ancestry: Jews were declared citizens and Muslims were declared fuck-them. And now the Israel lobby is one-sidedly blaming them for the conflict, hiding behind pathetic, half-assed “outreach” and “offers” to pretend that they have, indeed, tried solving the conflict. However, you simply cannot expect people to stop hating you just because you offer them a bandaid for the shotgun wound you put in them when you took over their home.

Now, you are probably going to say I am one-sidedly blaming Israel. Well, not really. The land grab was initiated by the British, and Jews just happily took what they were offered – as would anyone. However, what Jews then proceeded to do, is unjustifiable. But so is terrorism, such as dumping missiles on civilians. However, it’s the only thing a desperate people such as the Gazans know how to do anymore to move Israel in any way. Israel is so strong and dominant that force seems the only way to still so much as scratch us. While Israel has a right and a duty to defend its citizens, haven’t we seen enough of these wars to know that they are no solution?
If Hamas is destroyed, other terrorist factions will emerge.
The only ways to end the hostility are to either eradicate all of Gaza so no potential attacker is left, and that’s genocide…
Or for Israel to replace Hamas as the bringer of hope and purpose. And this would require Israel to stop treating the Gazans like chained junkyard dogs. It would require Israel to lift the blockade after a long and tolerant probation period during which the people of Gaza would be receiving more than food. Decent health care, rebuilding efforts, and humanity. There is simply no way there will be peace if Israel continues to treat Gazans and West Bank Arabs the way it does now. There is no way there will be peace if Israel continues to treat Jews and non-Jewish Arabs differently, even within “Israeli mainland”. You can simply not reasonably expect Hamas to pack up and leave one day and take all the other militants with them. Not as long as Israel keeps treating Arabs like less-than-human beings, and that is exactly what Israel does every time a Jew gets away with saying “Death to Arabs” while boycotts are staged when an Arab says something similar about Jews. And it is exactly what Israel does when it bulldozes the homes of the suspects in the murder of Jews, yet gives maximum humanity and legal protection to the Jewish murderers of Arabs. It is exactly what Israel does when it coops up a bunch of Arabs in a place where there is no real future, and then bombs them disproportionately for doing what a caged animal does: bite.

Had the roles been reversed, had Jews been the people surrounding a tiny strip of Palestine, forcefully grabbed by foreign Muslim invaders who threw out the Jews, would you sit by idly? Would you accept the situation? This is, again, a very simple Yes/No question. Few things in life are this simple, so rejoyce as you answer!
